Clinton is a class C/division 3 high school in Southeastern Michigan.  We compete in the Tri-County conference.  This is an eight team league consisting of class C and D schools.

5/30/2009 - Clinton wins first district title since 1996.

Hudson—Clinton (Overall 31-5, TCC 13-1) faced off with Hudson in the first game of the district.  Junior Rylie Robinson took the mound and earned the win 4-1.  Robinson threw a complete game allowing four hits, zero earned runs, zero walks, and struck out nine.  Robinson also had a hit and a RBI offensively.  Sophomore Hayden Craig had two hits and a RBI for the game.  Junior Mike Bohnett, junior Jesse Sexton each had hits on the day.  The senior duo of Brandon Brewer and Travis Houghton started the Redskin offense with a homerun (Brewer) and a triple (Houghton).  Sophomore Nate Dreslinski had a RBI for the Redskins.

In the championship game, the Redskins took advantage of 13 walks to win 11-5.  Junior Stephen Cooley earned the win allowing zero earned runs, scattering eight hits, walking two, and striking out nine.  Junior Stefan Spurlock came in relief to earn while throwing five pitches to get four outs.  Brewer continued to led the offense with two hits and 2 RBI.  Bohnett, Dreslinski, Cooley, Sexton, and Houghton each had a hit for the Redskins.

The Redskins now host regionals and face Jackson Lumen Christi in the 12:30 p.m. game.  Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard and Hillsdale will play (10 a.m.) in the other Region Semifinal game.  The champion of the Clinton regional will face the winner of the Blissfield regional at Adrian College on June 9th.

5/26/2009 - Redskins blow out Sand Creek in Pre-District in a 19-6 mercy

Hudson—The Redskins (Overall 29-5, TCC 13-1) took on TCC rival Sand Creek at Hudson for a Pre-District game.  The Redskins put the pedal to the metal and scored the most runs this year.  Junior Rylie Robinson earned his 10th victory of the year, which no ties him with Bryan Crutchfield (1986), for most victories in a season for a Redskin.  Robinson allowed 5 hits, 4 earned runs, 3 walks, and struck out seven.  Sophomore Nate Dreslinski (4 runs, 3 RBI, 3 doubles, 2 stolen bases), junior Stefan Spurlock (2 runs, 2 RBI, and a homerun), and junior Mike Bohnett (3 runs, 3 RBI) each had four hits.  Senior Travis Houghton (3 runs, RBI, double, 2 stolen bases) and junior Jesse Sexton (2 RBI, a stolen base) both supplied 3 hits to the team total of 22 for the game.  Junior Stephen Cooley (2 runs, 3 RBI, 2 doubles, stolen bases) had two hits on the day.  Sophomore Hayden Craig (2 runs, RBI, 2 stolen bases) and senior Brandon Brewer (run) each had a hit.  The Redskins now take on host Hudson in the semi-finals of the district at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 30th. box score

5/19/2009 - Redskins Invade Nicolay and emerge TCC Champions with 15-0 and 15-1 sweep of Morenci

Adrian—At Nicolay Field on the Adrian College campus, the Redskins (Overall 26-4, TCC 13-1) beat Morenci 15-0 and 15-1 in two mercy shortened games.  Freshman Craig Colley took the mound and threw a  two hit shutout allowing zero earned runs, 2 walks, while striking out seven.  Craig Cooley also had a double offensively.  Sophomore Hayden Craig was 2 for 4 including a double and a triple.  Craig also had two runs scored.  Junior Stephen Cooley was 2 for 2 with a run and 3 RBI.  Junior Mike Bohnett had a triple, four runs, RBI, 3 walks, and two stolen bases.  Bohnett now holds the single season walk record (29) and continues to break the career walks record (54).  Junior Stefan Spurlock had a hit and 3 RBI.  Juniors Jesse Sexton and Rylie Robinson each added a hit.

In the second game Spurlock took  the mound and allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits, 3 walks, while striking out eleven batters.  Bohnett had his first career homerun with 3 RBI.  Hayden Craig was 2-2 with 3 runs and a double.  Sophomore Nate Dreslinski  was 4 for 4 with three runs, 2 doubles, and a triple.  Dreslinski now hold the single season doubles record at 14.  Spurlock added three hits and 2 RBI.  Sexton hit his team leading third homerun.  Senior Dan Thomas had three walks and a run in his first action of the season after being out with a shoulder injury. box score

 

5/16/2009 - Redskins use long ball to win Clinton Invitational

Clinton—The Redskins (Overall 24-4, TCC 11-1) could do it all over the weekend with great defense, great pitching, and great hitting!  Put all of that together and you get another tournament championship and a new Clinton Baseball single season team wins record.  The old record set at 21 wins from 3 different teams has now been beat and after the tournament the Redskins hold 24 and still counting.  In the first game of the tournament the Redskins mercied division 1 Ypsilanti 10-0.  Junior Stephen Cooley earned the win with a two hit shutout.  Cooley also threw 67 pitches with 2 walks and 4 strike outs.  Cooley offensively got everything started with a homerun off the leftfield foul pole and walked three times.  Junior Rylie Robinson added a 2 for 3 performance with a run, 3 RBI, and his first homerun of the season.  Senior Brandon Brewer kept the ball flying with his first varsity homerun as well as supplying 2 runs and a RBI.  Sophomore Hayden Craig and junior Stefan Spurlock each had 2 hits.  Senior Travis Houghton added a hit and a run.

In the second game, the Redskins took on division 1 L’Anse Cruese and won 7-2.  Junior Rylie Robinson earned his eighth win of the season.  Robinson scattered six hits, one earned run, one walk, and struck out nine in the complete game.  Craig stayed hot with a 3 for 3 performance, his first career varsity homerun, 2 runs, and 3 RBI.  Spurlock also stayed hot with a 2-3 performance, including a triple, a run, and a RBI.  Junior Mike Bohnett, junior Jesse Sexton, and sophomore Nate Dreslinski each added a hit for the game.

In the championship, the Redskins took on Manchester in a battle of the unbeaten on the day.  Clinton came out on top with an 11-1 mercy.  Spurlock threw a gem only allowing 2 hits, one earned run, two walks, and eight strikeouts in 5 innings of work.  Bohnett was 3-3 with 3 runs, a RBI and a walk.  The walk tied him for the Clinton single season walks record (27) and put him alone in career walks with 51.  Brewer was 3 for 4 with a run, and 2 RBI.  Dreslinski homered in the first inning and also had a single, 2 runs, and 2 RBI.  Craig was 2 for 4 with a run, RBI, and a double.  Stephen Cooley was 2 for 4 with a run, 3 RBI, and a double.  Spurlock, Sexton, and freshman Craig Cooley rounded out the hitting each with a hit. box scores

 

5/14/2009 - Redskins continue to roll in TCC, mercy Madison 11-1 and 13-1

Clinton—Junior Stefan Spurlock set the tone for the Redskins (Overall 21-4, TCC 11-1) with allowing only two hits, zero earned runs, while scattering 5 walks and striking out seven.  Spurlock also was 1-1 from the plate with a run, RBI, walk, and sacrifice fly.  Sophomore Nate Dreslinski paced the Redskins with a double, homerun, 2 runs, and 4 RBI.  Sophomore Hayden Craig also had two hits, two runs, and 3 RBI.  Junior leadoff man Mike Bohnett was able to put together a 2 for 2 performance with 3 runs and a triple.  Junior Jesse Sexton supplied two doubles and a run.  Freshman Craig Cooley rounded out the hitting with two hits including a double, run, and 2 RBI.

In the second game of the double header Craig Cooley took the mound and earned the win.  Cooley allowed only three hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, and struck out nine in a five inning mercy.  Hayden Craig was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI, run, and a double.  Bohnett was 1 for 2 with a run and a RBI.  Stephen Cooley had two hits, two runs, and a stolen base, while junior Rylie Robinson had a stellar day at the plate with a 2 for 4 performance, a run and a RBI.  Senior Brandon Brewer was 1 for 3 with a run, RBI, and a stolen base.  Sexton continued to stay hot with a 2 for 2 performance including his second homerun of the season, 2 runs, and 2 RBI.  Spurlock stayed pace with Sexton for the lead in homeruns by putting together a 1 for 1 performance with his second homerun of the season, a run, and 2 RBI.

The Redskins have now tied the Clinton Varsity Baseball single season record for wins in a season with 21.  They have also broke the old team doubles record (52) with their 57 and still counting mark.  box scores

5/12/2009 - Redskins beat division 1 Ypsilanti Lincoln in dramatic fashion 12-11, then win nightcap 8-1

Clinton—Junior Stephen Cooley had a game winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to cap an amazing seven run seventh inning to win 12-11.  The Redskins (Overall 19-4, TCC 9-1) allowed 4 runs in the top of the seventh to go down 11-5 entering the bottom of the seventh.  Sophomore Hayden Craig came in relief for two batters and struck out one and earned his first varsity win.  Junior Rylie Robinson started the game and struck out 12, walking two, and allowing seven hits.  Offensively, every Redskin started had at least one hit.  “It was a true team win, everyone contributed in some way,” coach Roberts said.  Craig was 2 for 3 from the plate with a game tying double, 3 RBI, and 2 runs including the game winning run.  Cooley had two hits and the game winning RBI.  Junior Mike Bohnett was 2 for 3 from the plate with 2 runs.  Sophomore Nate Dreslinski was also 2 for 3 from the plate with 2 RBI and a run.  Senior Travis Houghton put together a 2 for 2 performance with 3 runs and a RBI.  Junior Stefan Spurlock, junior Jesse Sexton, junior Rylie Robinson, and freshman Craig Cooley all added hits as well. 

In the second game of the double header, Stephen Cooley took the mound and earned the win allowing zero earned runs, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts.  Bohnett supplied two hits, a run, and a RBI.  Houghton also had two hits and 3 RBI.  Senior Brandon Brewer had three runs and 2 RBI, while junior Cam Clark had a hit, run, and a RBI.  Craig, Dreslinski, and Stephen Cooley each stayed hot with a hit a piece.  box scores

 

5/9/2009 - Clinton beats division 1 Allen Park 3-1, loses 9-1 to Gibraltar Carlson and loses 6-3 to Monroe St. Mary’s

Gibraltar—In game 1, Clinton (17-4, 9-1 TCC) junior Rylie Robinson now stands alone with 21 career wins.  Coach Roberts said “This was Rylie’s best performance of them all.”  Robinson threw a complete game 4 hits, 1 earned run, 3 walk, 10 strikeout performance.  Junior Stephen Cooley had two hits while junior Mike Bohnett had a hit and two stolen bases.  Junior Jesse Sexton and freshman Craig Cooley each added a hit.

In game 2, junior Stefan Spurlock took the loss allowing five earned runs, three strikeouts, and 1 walk.  Spurlock, Sexton, and junior Cam Clark each had a hit during the windy game.

In the nightcap, Stephen Cooley suffered the loss with allowing six earned runs, 5 walks, and 2 strikeouts.  Bohnett added two hits and 2 RBI.  Spurlock, Craig Cooley, and sophomore Hayden Craig each had a hit.

5/6/2009 - Clinton stays atop of TCC with big come from behind win over rival Sand Creek

Sand Creek—Junior Rylie Robinson took the mound trying to become the third player in Clinton baseball history to win 20 games in a career.  After allowing 6 runs in the first two innings, it was looking like an impossible task.  With determination and teamwork, the Redskins (Overall 16-2, TCC 9-1) were able to come from behind and beat Sand Creek 11-7.  Robison earned the win with allowing 10 hits, 7 earned runs, and 9 strikeouts.  It wasn’t his best performance but it was a win.  Sophomore Nate Dreslinski and senior Travis Houghton each helped with 2 hits.  Junior Stefan Spurlock added a double and an RBI.  Junior Jesse Sexton contributed 2 runs and 2 RBI.  Senior Brandon Brewer added a hit and a RBI. box score

 

5/4/2009 - Redskins suffer first loss in league play

Clinton—The Redskins (Overall 15-2, TCC 8-1) battled Ottawa Lake Whiteford to a 3-1 loss in the opening game of a doubleheader.  Junior Stephen Cooley suffered the loss allowing 3 earned runs, walking six, and striking out seven, while scattering five hits.  Junior Jesse Sexton had two hits and senior Brandon Brewer had a hit and the lone RBI.

In the nightcap, the Redskins sent junior Stefan Spurlock to the mound and he didn’t disappoint as Clinton won 5-2.  Spurlock  allowed one earned run on 5 hits, while walking two and striking out five.  Spurlock also plated a single for the game.  Sexton continued to stay hot with two more hits.  Junior Michael Bohnett had a single and two runs scored, while sophomore Hayden Craig had a two RBI single.  Senior Travis Houghton had a hit and a stolen base, and Cooley and sophomore Nate Dreslinski each had a hit and a RBI. box score

 

4/27/2009 -The Redskins continue to win in the TCC, beat Whitmore Lake 10-4 and 13-0.

Clinton—Junior Stefan Spurlock threw a complete game gem.  Spurlock scattered eight hits, three unearned runs, walked six, and struck out a season high 14 batters.  Spurlock also had a hit offensively.  Junior Stephen Cooley stroked two hits including a double.  Sophomore Hayden Craig had a double, triple, and a RBI.  Junior Mike Bohnett hit a single, scored three runs, and stole four bases.  Junior Rylie Robinson and sophomore Nate Dreslinski each had a hit.  Junior Jesse Sexton and senior Travis Houghton both stole two bases.

In a mercy-shortened second game, Robinson threw a three hit shutout, while striking out nine in five innings.  Houghton was stellar with three hits in three at bats, two runs, two RBI, and three stolen bases.  Dreslinski contributed two hits including a double, three runs, two RBI, and two stolen bases.  Bohnett had two hits including a double and a run.  Spurlock, Sexton, junior Josh Lovejoy, freshman Craig Cooley, and senior Brandon Brewer each had a hit.  Spurlock and Stephen Cooley each  had two RBI as well.  Craig had three runs and two stolen bases. box score

 

4/22/2009 - Clinton rolls past Britton-Deerfield

Clinton—Clinton (Overall 12-1, TCC 5-0) slammed Britton Deerfield 15-0 in a 3 inning mercy and 15-0 in a 5 inning mercy.  Junior Stefan Spurlock earned the victory with allowing one hit and zero earned runs.  Junior Rylie Robinson, sophomore Nate Dreslinski, junior Stephen Cooley, junior Stefan Spurlock, junior Jesse Sexton, senior Brandon Brewer, and sophomore Hayden Craig each had 2 hits in the game.  Spurlock and Sexton smashed homeruns.  Spurlock and Sexton smashed homeruns.  Junior Mike Bohnett had a hit as well.

In the second game freshman Craig Cooley earned the victory while smashing a 3 run homerun.  Stephen Cooley had 3 hits including two doubles, a run, and 4 RBI.  Sexton had three hits including a single, double, and a triple and an RBI.  Brewer, Craig, and Bohnett each had 2 hits.  Dreslinski, Spurlock, and, junior Josh Lovejoy each had a hit.  box score

4/21/2009 - Clinton stays hot with sweep over Summerfield 7-0 and 11-4

Summerfield — Clinton (Overall 10-1, TCC 3-0) came out with a stellar pitching performance from Junior Stephen Cooley.  Cooley allowed 1 hit, zero earned runs, and struck out six.  Offensively, Cooley had a homerun, single, run,  and 2 RBI.  Senior Travis Houghton, senior Brandon Brewer, sophomore Nate Dreslinski (double), and junior Mike Bohnett (double) each had a hit.  Bohnett also had 2 RBI as Brewer swiped 4 bases in the game.

In game 2 the Redskins came out again ready to.  Junior Rylie Robinson earned the win with scattering seven hits, 4 earned runs, zero walks, and six strike outs.  Junior Stefan Spurlock was 3-3 with a double, 3 runs, and a RBI.  Junior Jesse Sexton was 2-2 with 2 runs, 2 RBI, and a stolen base.  Brandon Brewer was also 2-2 with a stolen base, run, and RBI.  Sophomore Hayden Craig, Dreslinski, and freshman Craig Cooley each had a hit.  box score

4/18/2009 - Redskins win over Invitational with clutch hitting

Clinton—The Redskins (Overall 8-1, TCC 1-0) were able to beat division 3 Napoleon 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, then mercy division 2 Dexter 10-0, and then in the championship beat division 2 Parma Western 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning.

In the opening game freshman Craig Cooley took the mound and earned his first varsity win 5-4 against Napoleon.  Cooley allowed 3 earned runs, 4 hits, 6 walks, and struck out nine.  Sophomores Hayden Craig and Nate Dreslinski each had a double.  Junior Jesse Sexton had a hit and 2 RBI.  Junior Rylie Robinson, senior Brandon Brewer, and junior Stefan Spurlock (game winning hit in bottom of seventh inning) each had a hit. box score

In the middle game, junior Stefan Spurlock threw a 5 hit shutout, walking 1 and striking out seven in a 10-0 mercied shortened game.  Juniors Michael Bohnett and Rylie Robinson each had 3 hits.  Sophomore Nate Dreslinski had two hits and 3 RBI.  Junior Stephen Cooley, freshman Craig Cooley, senior Brandon Brewer, sophomore Hayden Craig, and senior Travis Houghton each had a hit. box score

4/17/2009 - Clinton starts TCC campaign with tough win over rival Sand Creek

Clinton—The Redskins (Overall 5-1, TCC 1-0) started TCC play with a 9-6 win of Sand Creek.   Junior Stephen Cooley earned the victory with allowing 6 earned runs, 7 hits, 5 walks, and struck out eight.  Cooley also had a hit offensively.  Junior Michael Bohnett had two hits, 3 RBI, and scored a run.  Senior Travis Houghton had two hits including a double and 2 runs.  Sophomore Nate Dreslinski supplied 2 hits and an RBI.  Junior Stefan Spurlock had a double.  Junior Jesse Sexton had a hit, 2 RBI, and a run.  Freshman Craig Cooley also had a hit and run.  Senior Brandon Brewer and junior Rylie Robinson each had a run and a RBI. box score

4/15/2009 - Redskins split with Hudson

Clinton—The Redskins (Overall 4-1, TCC 0-0) lost 7-5 in 9 innings to Hudson in the first game.  Freshman Craig Cooley threw 6 2/3 innings allowing 7 hits, 5 earned runs, 3 walks, and struck out 7 in his first varsity pitching appearance.  Junior Stefan Spurlock came in relief and took the loss allowing one earned run will striking out two.  Spurlock had 3 hits and an RBI offensively.  Sophomore Nate Dreslinski and junior Stephen Cooley each had two hits.  Junior Jesse Sexton had a double, while senior Brandon Brewer hit a single.

4/13/2009 - The Redskins continue to win as they beat Vandercook Lake 4-0

Clinton—The Redskins (Overall 3-0, TCC 0-0) beat Vandercook Lake on a very cold and rainy day 4-0.  Junior Stefan Spurlock took the mound and threw a complete game shutout.  Spurlock allowed 4 hits while striking out 10.  Senior Travis Houghton had a single, RBI, and stole 2 bases.  Junior Mike Bohnett, junior Jesse Sexton, senior Brandon Brewer, and sophomore Hayden Craig each had a run.  Sexton had 3 stolen bases as Bohnett swiped two.vandercook lake box score

 

4/11/2009 - Redskins start season with championship at Napoleon tournament

Napoleon—The Redskins (Overall 2-0, TCC 0-0) look to start the 2009 campaign of defending the TCC title by taking on Springport at the Napoleon Invitational.  The Redskins beat Springport in a mercied-shortened 10-0 game.  Junior Stephen Cooley took the mound in the opener and threw a gem.  Cooley allowed zero earned runs, 2 hits, walked 2 and struck out 12.  Cooley also led the team on offense with 2 hits including a double and 3 RBI.  Junior Mike Bohnett supplied two hits as seniors Brandon Brewer and Travis Houghton each had a hit.  Junior Stefan Spurlock had a hit and sophomore Nate Dreslinski had a double.  Junior Rylie Robinson helped with 2 runs and an RBI.  Junior Jesse Sexton and sophomore Hayden Craig each had a run and an RBI.

In the championship game, the Redskins beat Jonesville 10-5.  Robinson took the mound and struck out 12 as he scattered 7 hits and 5 earned runs.  Dreslinski had another double and 3 RBI and Brewer supplied 2 hits and a RBI.  Bohnett, Robinson, Craig, and Houghton each had a hit in the championship game.springport box score  jonesville box score
